Materials for Bright Beams Workshop 2025
Phys Sci Bldg Rm 120
Cornell University
This inaugural workshop will focus on advanced materials for use in producing and accelerating charged particle beams. Attendees will include university faculty, students, and postdocs, and national lab researchers as well as industry entrepreneurs. The work of early career scientists will be a special emphasis. To foster discussion and promote collaboration, it will be all plenary and in-person.
This workshop aims to become an annual series that shapes research directions for the field. The focus areas for the 2025 workshop are:
- Photocathodes for photoemission sources capable of producing intense, highly collimated electron beams for applications ranging from x-ray free electron lasers to electron diffraction beamlines to colliders.
- Superconducting RF accelerating cavities capable of sustaining high electric and magnetic fields for beam acceleration with low losses and high critical temperatures for applications ranging from colliders to waste treatment.
- High-gradient normal-conducting RF structures capable of beam acceleration for novel applications such as compact x-ray sources and ultrafast electron diffraction.
